12/4/2023 0 Comments Redshift renderfarm![]() ![]() Apologies, that definitely turned into more of a rant than I was intending. Therefore you cannot run the client as a service if you want to use GPU rendering for the Redshift renderer in Maya or Softimage. I don't have patience any more for poor support/customer service. I have not used Octane, but even if it was comparable to Redshift I would avoid it, simply based on my impression of Otoy as a company. With Redshift you can use the same license for any of the supported DCCs. Another thing I have an issue with is that you pay for each DCC implementation separately. The forum itself, for some reason is broken down into about EIGHTY subforums for V-Ray alone. When you create that forum account, you can't actually post on the forums because you need to email their support for posting access (took two or three days). You need to create a separate forum account. Why would that access not be granted automatically for subscription licenses? The user account you use as a customer doesn't work on the Chaos Group forums. Their FAQ states that you should contact support to get access to free upgrades for V-Ray 3 to V-Ray Next if you are on an annual subscription. They took about a week to respond and fix the problem. We lost access to our V-Ray Next for Maya licenses when it went from Beta to Gold and had to get in touch with support to get them re-instated. Our Redshift render farm allows you to upload and manage your projects with ease, thanks to advanced cloud technology. They don't seem to have a good system for keeping track of licenses. Regarding V-Ray: V-Ray itself is a fine product, but I think I have some issues with Chaos Group. There are some drawbacks to Redshift that come with being a third party renderer, but on the whole I think it's the best option for many users. Mantra is great, but it's not at all viable for animation without a decent renderfarm. Most of the time it's many orders of magnitude quicker than Mantra, which is very beneficial for look-dev and iterating on materials/lighting. ![]() You may visit iRender Servers for more information about their machines.Redshift all the way. You can know exactly what the server specification contains, the type of CPU and GPU it has, and its cost as well. Depending on the plan, iRender servers offer from 256 GB to 2T of data storage.Īll information on the server configuration is publicly posted on their website. IRender Redshift servers cost from $3.8 to $28 for node (machine)/hour and support both Redshift and all 3D software that use Redshift for render (including Cinema 4D, Houdini, Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, and Katana). They all run on AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3955WX.īesides, built using the 7nm Zen Core Architecture with the sWRX8 socket, this processor is designed to deliver exceptional performance for professionals such as artists, architects, engineers, and data scientists, and makes it a perfect fit for Redshift. Besides 9A, there are many other powerful servers for Redshift such as 8A (6x RTX 3090), 5P (4x RTX 3090), and 4P (2x RTX 3090). Moreover, with the 256 GB RAM and 2TB SSD Storage, this servicer is the ideal machine for Redshift. Also, it runs on AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 3955WX, which offers a great balance of multi-threaded and single-threaded performance. However, iRender recommends that sever 9A, which is built with 8x RTX 3090, is the beast for the fastest rendering speed. IRender offers a variety of servers from single GPU 1x RTX 3090 to Multi-GPU 2/4/6/8 x RTX 3090 – you can choose one server that is suitable for your demand and get started. ![]()
